  • Cover Up (Skin Deep Inc. #3) by L.A. Witt from Swerve (St. Martin’s Press) — releases October 3rd, 2017.  I’ve read the first two books in this series and enjoyed them (read the reviews for Back Piece and Pounding Skin), and I really wanted to find out what happened with Nate and Lucas.
  • The Jingle Bell Bride (Christmas Brides #2) by Scarlet Wilson from Tule Publishing — releases October 3rd, 2017.
  • Deck the Halls (Darling, VT) by Donna Alward from Swerve (St. Martin’s Press) — releases October 3rd, 2017.
  • Take the Lead (Dance Off #1) by Alexis Daria from Swerve (St. Martin’s Press) — releases October 3rd, 2017.   Dancing and diversity?  SCORE!
  • Always You (Bachelor Brotherhood #3) by Denise Grover Swank from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) — releases November 28th, 2017.  I’ve read the first book in this series (read the review for Only You) and I have an ARC of the 2nd book that I’m overdue on, so now I can finish off the trilogy.

ARCs from Authors/PR Companies:

36255092

  • The Princess and the Pizza Man (Destined For Love: Mansions) by Cassie Mae — releases October 3rd, 2017.  I’ve already preordered this one as well, but read it early?  Yes please!  Course if you look up, I now have like 5 books releasing on October 3rd…woops.

New Releases:

3608448536257320

  • Fix Me Not (The Fix #2) by Carey Heywood — released September 21st, 2017.  I read and LOVED book one in this series (read my review for Fix Her Up), and I NEEDED to read Asher’s story!!  Very excited.
  • Curveball (Barlow Sisters #1) by Jordan Ford — released September 22nd, 2017.  I’ve beta read this beauty!!  I actually just finished beta reading the final book in the trilogy, and the series is fantastic!  If you like a bit of suspense/mystery/action with your YA books, this series is great for that!  I’ll get a review written at some point, I’m just so behind on everything…

Newsletter Freebies:

36159798

  • Bite the Hand That Bleeds (Mission #0.5) by Megan Erickson — I recently read the first book in this series (read the review for Blood Guard), and so when I saw this short story offered in Ms. Erickson’s newsletter, I said SCORE!  Title goes to the Instafreebie link.

Purchased:

  • Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland — So both of these authors are going to be attending the Big Apple Author Event in October, and I’d heard great things about their co-written books, so I decided to try a sample of this book.  And I was sucked right in, so I bought the book.  LOVED it, read my review here.
  • Bossman by Vi Keeland — Samesies for this one, got the sample, sucked in, bought it, finished it, loved it, read my review here.

  • Adapted for Film (Reel Romance #1) by Stacey Rourke — Curly Carla LOVED this book (read her review here), so I put it on my wishlist.  And earlier in September I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for free from its usual $2.99, so I snatched it up!  No longer on sale.
  • The Trouble with Mistletoe (Heartbreaker Bay #2) by Jill Shalvis — It’s time for Christmas books!!  Especially since I joined The 12 Books of Christmas Challenge.  A lot of reviewers I follow enjoyed this little novella from last Christmas, so when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for $1.99 from its usual $4.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • The Negotiator (Harbor City #1) by Avery Flynn — I feel like I saw this one on The Rock Stars of Romance newsletter at one point and was intrigued, so it went on a wishlist (especially since this author is going to be attending Apollycon 2018 in Washington, D.C. next March).  So when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for 99 cents from its usual $3.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • His Christmas Miracle (Love in Montana #5) by Dani Collins — MOAR CHRISTMAS BOOKS!  Saw this one on BookBub for free from its usual $3.99, still on sale!
  • The next few books are part of a sale that Swerve (St. Martin’s Press) is holding on a lot of their novels (most on sale for 99 cents).  I initially got eReaderIQ alerts for a few of these books, and then I noticed it advertised on a few of my author event groups.  You can find the list of individual books here.  But there are some box sets on sale too (99 cents multiplied by the number of books in the set), so you can also just go to this list of books on Amazon with Swerve as the publisher, ordered by price.  Sale ends on the 25th.
    • One True Pairing (Fandom Hearts #2) by Cathy Yardley — I read a NetGalley ARC and loved it (see my review here), so wanted the final copy.
    • Elliott Redeemed (Preload #2) by Scarlett Cole — I got a NetGalley ARC of this one, but haven’t gotten to it yet.  But since I loved the first book in this series (see my review for Jordan Reclaimed), I took a wild stab that I will love this one too.
    • Shacking Up by Helena Hunting — Curly Carla loved this one too (see her review here), and she made it sound like something I would love too.  This author is also attending all the author events I’m attending over the next year, so if I love it, I’ll have plenty of opportunities to get a signed copy.
    • Second Circle Tattoos, The Complete Series (Second Circle Tattoos #1-4) by Scarlett Cole — I’ve read the first and the last book of this series through NetGalley (see my review for The Strongest Steel and The Darkest Link) and really enjoyed them, and I’m a series completer.  I also love collecting box sets and clearing up clutter on my Kindle.
    • All the Ways You Saved Me (Love Unplugged #1) and The Feeling of Forever (Love Unplugged #2) by Jamie Howard — Both of these books have been recommended by fellow bloggers I follow, and the second one at least has some diversity, so always a good thing to add to my TBR!
    • Off Beat: Body Rocks, Steady Stroke, Hot Licks (Off Beat #1-3) by A.M. Arthur — I’ve read the last two books in this series through NetGalley (see my review for Steady Stroke and Hot Licks) and really enjoyed them, so yet again: yay for box sets and series completions!

Top Ten Tuesday
(Images link to Goodreads, Titles link to Amazon using Amazon Affiliate links)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in which you make a list of ten to do with a certain topic.  This week’s topic is “Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR List.”

Curly Carla’s Top TenFive:

3120934732766533294468603062521235660066

  1. Cold: Essays on Love, Faith, Family and Other Dangerous Pursuits by Victoria Dougherty. This is a collection of essays that I started to read for my Read Harder challenge 2016 hosted by book riot.
  2. Scored by Sloane Howell. I got this book today from Netgalley and I can’t wait to crack this puppy open.  This will be available October 17th.
  3. Practically Imperfect (Imperfect #3) by Mary Frame.  I just got this book and plan to read it soon.
  4. Juked (Texas Mutiny #1) by M.E. Carter. This is FREE. I got this on the recommendation of Lenore, hope I like it.
  5. Win (The Atlantis Grail #3) by Vera Nazarian. A few of my book friends recommended this to me and for a while we were all reading it together, but then….I started lagging behind. Soo I hope to get back to this.

Lenoreo’s Top Ten:

  1. Unspeakable (Beyond Human #2) by Nina Croft — releases September 25th, 2017, NetGalley ARC.
  2. Fix Me Not (The Fix #2) by Carey Heywood — releases September 22nd, 2017, no pre-order link, but I’ll be one-clicking on release day.
  3. Cover Up (Skin Deep Inc. #3) by L.A. Witt — releases October 3rd, 2017, NetGalley ARC.
  4. The Princess and the Pizza Man (Destined for Love: Mansions) by Cassie Mae — releases October 3rd, 2017, ARC.
  5. Unloved by Katy Regnery — releases October 8th, 2017, I should be getting an ARC soon.  No pre-order link for Amazon.
  6. Totally His (Opposites Attract #3) by Erin Nicholas — releases October 31st, 2017, NetGalley ARC.
  7. Made for You (The Best Mistake #2) by Lauren Layne — this author is attending the Big Apple Author Event in less than a month, and I already have this in paperback, so figured I should read it before I meet her.
  8. Cuff Me (New York’s Finest #3) by Lauren Layne — ditto for this one.  I didn’t enjoy the first two in this series quite as much, but this was the one I was most anticipating, so I’m hoping I enjoy it more.
  9. The Player and the Pixie (Rugby #2) by L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid — these authors are both attending the Big Apple Author Event as well, and since Ms. Cosway won’t be at any other events I’m attending, I want to give this series another shot (since I wasn’t blown away by book one).
  10. Fake Fiancée by Ilsa Madden-Mills — another author attending the Big Apple Author Event who won’t be at other events, so I figured maybe I should get this one read in case I LOVE it.

So what are you most looking forward to reading this fall?  Have you read any of the books on our lists?

Top Ten Older Books I Forgot How Much I Liked

Top Ten Tuesday
(Images link to Goodreads, Titles link to Amazon using Amazon Affiliate links)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in which you make a list of ten to do with a certain topic.  This week’s topic is “Throwback Freebie: Ten Books I Loved During The First Year I Started My Blog, Favorite Books Published 5 or 10 or 15 Years Ago, Ten Older Books I Forgot How Much I Loved, etc. etc. Tweak however you want!” I’m gonna go with ten older books I forgot how much I liked. In order from oldest pub date to most recent.

Curly Carla’s Top Ten:

  1. Lord of the Flies by William Golding. OMG, I loved this book so much! Published in 1954. I didn’t know it was that old. The ultimate book on the breakdown of government…with little kids.
  2. A Wrinkle in Time (Time Quintet #1) by Madeleine L’Engle.  Published in 1962. I read almost this entire series when I was a kid. I’m very excited to see the movie when it comes out and I will be reading this with my daughter after we finish The Chronicles of Narnia.
  3. Dragons of Autumn Twilight (Dragonlance: Chronicles #1) by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.  Published in 1984. I have read this series more times than ANY OTHER SERIES. I could probably quote it. These books get tricky because of the time jumps and changes as the series progresses but this one was my favorite storyline.  Great series.
  4. Magic Kingdom for Sale–Sold! (Magic Kingdom of Landover #1) by Terry Brooks. First published in 1986, this author is FUNNY.
  5. Magic’s Pawn (Valdemar: The Last Herald-Mage #1) by Mercedes Lackey. Published in 1989, this was my first m/m paranormal. And it blew me away.
  6. Dawn (Cutler #1) by V.C. Andrews. Published in 1990, I’ve read all her books (and by all I mean the ones that SHE wrote), until I found out they were being ghost written then I stopped at the Landry series.
  7. Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park #1) by Michael Crichton. Published in 1990, I read this book AFTER I watched the movie and so many things were different that I vowed I would never do that again.  And I haven’t.
  8. The Great Book of Amber (The Chronicles of Amber #1-10) by Roger Zelazny. Published in 1999. Okay I cheated a little here. But I actually read this edition so I’m gonna count it as one.  I even got my husband to read it and he liked it!
  9. Uglies (Uglies #1) by Scott Westerfeld. Published in 2005. Not too long ago but I’m saving this one and a couple others for my daughter to read when she gets in high school or even junior high.  Great book.
  10. Gone (Gone #1) by Michael Grant. Published in 2008. Again, not like a super long time ago but I think it’s enough to count it. This series was a really fun read.

  • Juked (Texas Mutiny #1) by M.E. Carter. This one is Lenore’s fault.  She wrote a great review and then mentioned it was free! I think it’s still free as of right now.

  • Secondborn (Secondborn #1) by Amy A. Bartol from 47North — released August 1st, 2017.
  • Rebel (The Renegades #3) by Rebecca Yarros from Entangled: Embrace (Entangled Publishing LLC) — released August 28th, 2017.  This could have gone under the preorders that went live section too, since I preordered it.  I signed up for a blog tour on this one as well, and so look for my review on Tuesday (hopefully)!  And read my review for book one, Wilder, here.  This author will also be attending Apollycon 2018 in Washington, D.C. next March that I’m going to.
  • Totally His (Opposites Attract #3) by Erin Nicholas from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) — releases October 31st, 2017.  I’ve read the first two books in this series and loved them (read the reviews for Completely Yours and Forever Mine), so I needed to read Sophie’s story.
  • Elliott Redeemed (Preload #2) by Scarlett Cole from Swerve (St. Martin’s Press) — released August 29th, 2017.  I read the first book in this series and loved it (see my review for Jordan Reclaimed), so I needed to read Elliott’s story.
  • Unspeakable (Beyond Human #2) by Nina Croft from Select Otherworld (Entangled Publishing LLC) — releases September 25th, 2017.  I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it (see my review for Unthinkable), so I needed to know what happened next.

ARCs from Authors/PR Companies:

3590136536123044

  • If Ever by Angie Stanton from Give Me Books — released August 21st, 2017.  This one also could have gone under Preorders That Went Live, b/c I can never resist a release day/preorder sale!  This book was AMAZEBALLS.  I finished later than I’d wanted, but you can read my review here.
  • Temporary by Sarina Bowen and Sarah Mayberry — releases September 12th, 2017.  This one I actually won from the Ms. Bowen, b/c in a weird twist of fate I was able to guess who her mystery co-author was going to be before it was announced.  It was honestly a fluke, I just remember being excited when I found out she was also a fan of Ms. Mayberry and knew her, so I threw it out there.  So yay, ARC for Lenore!!  I’m hoping to get a partially signed paperback copy in October at the Big Apple Author Event, where Ms. Bowen will be signing.

Preorders That Went Live:

35631666

  • Royally Mine: 22 All-New Bad Boy Romance Novellas by Various Authors — released August 22nd, 2017.  I bought this one pretty much exclusively for Katy Regnery’s new short story Shear Heaven, part of her Modern Fairytale series.  This one was on a pre-order sale for 99 cents, but it’s now $6.99.

New Releases:

3588773736064864

  • Catching Cooper (Red Maple Falls #4) by Theresa Paolo — released July 29th, 2017.  This one was on a pre-order/release day sale of 99 cents, but is now back at its regular price of $3.99.  I’m still collecting this series.  Someday.
  • Perfume Therapy by Kirsty McManus — released August 8th, 2017.  A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I read another book by this author (Zen Queen), and really enjoyed it.  The author contacted me to let me know about this book coming out and offered me an ARC, but I was just too swamped.  BUT it was on a release day sale for 99 cents, so I snatched it up!  It’s back to regular price at $2.99.

Had To Get The Next In The Series:

34384215

  • #FinishLine (GearShark #5) by Cambria Hebert — So Ms. Hebert is going to be attending the Big Apple Author Event in October, and I’ve desperately been trying to read towards it (and failing).  So I recently decided I needed to finish this series, so had to get this final book.  While I didn’t enjoy it as much as the rest of the series, it was still great (see my review here).

Got It On Sale:

3273948530646352309680443505983427626126515+viqviWL34044123346826423610754135722664356498313433384133021598

  • 180 Seconds by Jessica Park — I read a NetGalley ARC of this book and loved it (see my review here), so I immediately put it on my wishlist.  I’m also hoping to procure a signed paperback copy since this author will be attending Book Bonanza next July (which I managed to score tickets to).  So when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for $1.99 from its usual $4.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • Roman (Cold Fury Hockey #7) by Sawyer Bennett — This is another author who will be attending Book Bonanza next July, and I’ve read one other book in this series and enjoyed it, so I’ve been collecting them (see my review of Max).  So when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for $1.99 cents from its usual $5.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • Lights, Cowboy, Action by Cindi Madsen — I really love this author, and am looking forward to seeing her again at Apollycon 2018 in Washington, D.C. next March.  I actually already own this novella in an anthology, but when eReaderIQ told me it was on for free from its usual 99 cents, I figured why not?!  No longer on sale.
  • One Good Reason (Adamson Brothers #2) by Sarah Mayberry — I actually have the paperback copy of this book, but since I read almost exclusively on Kindle nowadays, and I haven’t read this one yet, when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for 99 cents from its usual $4.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout — This author is the mastermind behind Apollycon, and will also be attending Book Bonanza next July. So when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for $1.99 from its usual much higher price (it’s currently at $7.74, but it seems to vary), I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • The Ghosts of You and Me by Kelly Oram — One of my favourite authors and this is her latest release that I hadn’t managed to purchase right away.  It worked in my favour since I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for 99 cents from its usual $4.99!  It’s now at $2.99, so still a good deal.
  • The Hearts Series (Hearts #1-4, 5.75) by L.H. Cosway — This author is attending the Big Apple Author Event in October, and I’ve yet to read any of her standalones.  So when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this bundle was on sale for $1.99 from its usual $5.99, I said SCORE!!  No longer on sale.
  • Tanner (American Extreme Bull Riders Tour #1) by Sarah Mayberry — I read a NetGalley ARC of this book and enjoyed it (see my review here), so when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was free from its usual $3.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • Hothouse Flower (Calloway Sisters #2, Addicted #2.2) by Krista & Becca Ritchie — I actually have a signed paperback copy of this book from when I met the twins at the Emerald City Author Event in 2016, but I hadn’t read it yet…since, again, I prefer reading on my Kindle.  So when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for 99 cents from its usual $4.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • With a Twist (Bad Habits #1) by Staci Hart — Another author attending the Big Apple Author Event in October that I’ve yet to read, but I believe this book has been recommended to me.  So when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was free from its usual $3.99, I one-clicked!  Still free!!
  • Celebrity Superhero: A Kpop Romance by Jennie Bennett — I’ve been really enjoying these Kpop romances, even though I have no interest in Kpop (see my reviews for Kidnapped Idol and Undercover Fan), so when I saw this book was on for free from its usual $2.99 in My Book Cave email, I jumped on it!  No longer on sale.
  • Dr. OB (St. Luke’s Docuseries #1) by Max Monroe — This is an author I haven’t read but has been recommended to me, and I recently saw that they will be attending Book Bonanza as well, so when I saw this book in my BookBub email on sale for 99 cents from its usual $4.99, I one-clicked!  No longer on sale.
  • January Girl (Wilder Irish #1) by Mari Carr — I read and loved the original Wild Irish series, and this is the spin off series about the children of those couples.  I wishlisted them, and when I got an eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for 99 cents from its usual $3.99, I one-clicked!  Still on sale!

Stacking The Shelves is feature/weekly meme created by Tynga’s Reviews in which you share the books you are adding to your shelves, both physical and virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Gifted to Me:

35660066

  • Win (The Atlantis Grail #3) by Vera Nazarian. Sooooo, I’m doing a buddy read with some of my friends and I had mentioned that I needed to wait till I got paid to get the third book. Well, Theresa didn’t want me to wait that long. So she bought me the book. I was actually quite surprised because when she asked for my email address I thought she was gonna loan me the book. But no! So thanks Theresa for gifting me a book in a series that I have come to really enjoy. It has its ups and downs but overall, I’m glad you guys turned me on to this series. Now we just have to bugger Lenore to read it!

Got It On Sale:

  • Yours to Bare (Slip of the Tongue #2) by Jessica Hawkins.  My girl Lenore let me know this was on sale so I snatched it up. The first book was INCREDIBLE.
  • St-St-Stuffed (Enemies to Lovers #2) by Anyta Sunday.  I got the alert this was on sale (free!) and I devour anything this author writes so it was a no-brainer.  No longer free.
  • Get It (Enemies to Lovers #2.5) by Anyta Sunday.  What! Another sale for free! Heck yeah, score! (I just got this alert today so it’s probably still free guys)

New Releases:

35782482

  • Royally Raised (Royally #2.5) by Emma Chase — released July 21st, 2017.  I have not read this series yet, so when this short story was offered in Ms. Chase’s newsletter, I failed to snag it.  So I was happy when this one was offered through Amazon, and when the Canadian price finally got to free as well.  Ms. Chase is an author that is attending both the Big Apple Author Event in October and Apollycon 2018 in Washington, D.C. next March that I’m going to.

  • Random Acts of Trust (Random #2) by Julia Kent — Late 2016, or early 2017 I snagged the first book in this series for free.  I haven’t read it yet, so I still don’t know if Ms. Kent is my kind of author, but I saw this second book in the series on BookBub for free from its previous price of 99 cents, and I figured on the off chance it’s my kind of thing, why pass up on the deal.  Still free.
  • The Fear of Letting Go (Fairhope #3) by Sarra Cannon — I read the first two books in this series quite awhile ago, but was very interested in book 3 (though it wasn’t out at the time).  So it went on the wishlist, and apparently I forgot about it.  So when I got eReaderIQ alert that this book was on sale for 99 cents from its usual $2.99, I one-clicked!  Still on sale!
  • The Sexy One (One Love #1) by Lauren Blakely — I still haven’t read a Lauren Blakely book, but I’ve been convinced to give them a try from reading reviews of bloggers I follow.  So I put a few on my wishlist.  And this week I got eReaderIQ alert that this one went on sale for 99 cents from its usual $3.99, so I one-clicked!  Still on sale!
  • Dazzled by Jane Harvey-Berrick — This author will be attending the Big Apple Author Event in October, and she mentioned this sale in the BBAE Facebook group. And since I love a good celebrity romance, and a friends to lovers, I nabbed it.  Still on sale for 99 cents from its usual $3.99.
  • Get It (Enemies to Lovers #2.5) by Anyta Sunday — Curly Carla shared this sale on our page, and since it’s a prequel to William (book 3) which I read a LONG time ago, I definitely want to see what it’s all about.  On sale for free from its usual 99 cents.
